JPMC and PJSC embraces World Quality Day and World Patient Safety Day
World Quality Day and World Patient Safety Day

4 December 2020 – Today, 4th of December marks the third collaboration between Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) with Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) through a campaign of World Quality Day and WHO World Patient Safety Day 2020 with the purpose of advancing quality management for the benefit of customer or patients. This is the first for JPMC and PJSC to celebrate World Patient Safety Day with this year’s theme “Health Worker Safety: A Priority for Patient Safety”.

In line with the theme of World Quality Day, patient safety became a top priority when World Patient Safety Day is recognized as the importance of global health. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed huge challenges and risks health workers were facing globally including health care associated infections, violence, emotional disturbances, illness and even death.

Our Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohd Isham bin Hj Jaafar, The Minister of Health in his capacity as Chairman and Executive Director of JPMC and Deputy Chairman of PJSC stated, ”I want to honor all quality profession & highlights the positive impact that quality has on us. It is our mission to spread the ‘Importance of Quality’ in all aspect of healthcare, both the clinical and non-clinical departments.” In addition to his remarks, “As we comply with Joint Commission International (JCI) standards, we ensure safe and quality services are delivered to our clients, as the clients are the focus of the theme for this year’s World Quality Day and World Patient Safety Day. Eventually it is our clients who define the quality of our services.” The overall objectives of World Quality Day and World Patient Safety Day are to enhance global understanding of patient safety, increase public engagement in the safety of health care and promote global actions to enhance patient safety and reduce patient harm.

The event was also attended by Yang Mulia Dr Hj Mazrul Adimin bin Hj Awang Besar, Executive Director of PJSC, Medical Director, Senior Management and Staff of JPMC and PJSC. The event was highlighted on this year’s World Quality Day ‘Creating Customer Value’ consisting of patients, families, vendors, and everyone that we worked with. We as a healthcare provider must recognize that it is them, not us, who can define the quality of our services.

For this year’s World Quality Day, as a combined celebration with World Patient Safety Day, both JPMC and PJSC has conducted an internal video competition. The goal was to create a video individually or with a team, following the themes of the World Quality Day 2020 and/or World Patient Safety Day 2020.

We always ensure safe and trustworthy services for all patients and accommodate at our best. Both patients and our own safety are still included in our top priority in everything that we do. It is indeed the vision and mission in both JPMC and PJSC to deliver excellent healthcare to all.
