JPMC LAUNCHES INAUGURAL JPMC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM TO BUILD FUTURE WORKFORCE IN HEALTHCARE

28th July 2023Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) celebrated a momentous event on Friday, 28th July 2023, as they inaugurated the JPMC Scholarship Programme in “Building the Future Workforce in Healthcare”. This year’s JPMC Scholarship Program aims to support young talents pursuing nursing studies and foster the future generation of healthcare professionals to combat the shortages of nurses faced nationwide.

The Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Hj Md Isham bin Hj Jaafar, Minister of Health, in his capacity as Chairman and Executive Director of JPMC, graced the occasion with his presence. He expressed his delight in gathering with everyone to mark this significant milestone in JPMC’s journey. In his opening speech, Yang Berhormat Dato highlighted the commitment of JPMC to empower the nation’s youth and invest in a brighter future for healthcare by facilitating funding for continuing education and certification programmes that will serve as a stepping stone in their professional development.

Five (5) remarkable individuals were awarded the prestigious JPMC Scholarship after undergoing a meticulous assessment process and will be enrolled in JPMC College of Health Sciences this coming August where two(2) will undergo Foundation in Science Certification and three(3) will undergo Bachelor of Science in Nursing. “We are proud to recognize and support these exceptional students who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to their academic pursuits in nursing,” said Yang Berhormat Dato.

In alignment to Brunei’s visionary Wawasan 2035 in mind, upon successful completion of studies, JPMC scholars will start their professional careers with JPMC.  “Our goal is not only to address the growing demand for healthcare services but also to develop healthcare leaders who will lead the charge in innovating, elevating, and enhancing healthcare delivery,” Yang Berhormat Dato said

To capture the significant event, the five (5) JPMC scholars:  Nur Athirah Muti’ah Binti Haji Hamdilah, Nuramirah Raihana Binti Abdullah Md Rozidi, Dayangku Nur Farahana Izzati Binti Pengiran Suhanizen, Nurin Natasha Khairina Binti Haji Hassan, and Nur Amanina Fikriah Binti Sofian, along with their parents shared a momentous photo session, with the Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Dato.

As the ceremony concluded, Yang Berhormat Dato wished the JPMC Scholars a memorable journey ahead and expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event.

The event was a joyous and inspiring occasion marking the beginning of a transformative journey in healthcare education at JPMC, symbolizing JPMC’s commitment to excellence in care and education.
