11th November 2023 – Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) has achieved a significant milestone by being awarded the 4th Joint Commission International (JCI) Gold Seal of Approval, making it the first healthcare provider in the country to receive this recognition. Since 2014, JPMC has been dedicated to enhancing healthcare practices, ensuring safety, and providing quality care for patients.
The JCI Accreditation Survey at JPMC was conducted from 23rd October 2023 until 27th October 2023. With the pandemic behind us, an on-site physical survey was conducted by two JCI International Surveyors, Patricia O’Shea (Physician Surveyor) and lead by Ann Watkins (Nurse/Administrative Surveyor) for 5 days ensuring all applicable standards are met as each JCI chapter is audited.
According to Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Hj Mohd Isham bin Hj Jaafar, Minister of Health, Chairman and Executive Director of JPMC, “As technology and research advances throughout the years, JCI accreditations for JPMC has helped the team to comply and adapt to the latest practices in healthcare to ensure an international standard of quality care and patient safety is delivered by JPMC at all times.” He emphasized the importance of adapting to the latest healthcare practices to maintain international standards of quality care and patient safety. He also highlighted the significance of ensuring both patient and healthcare provider safety through these accreditation efforts.
“The past 3 years, JPMC has expanded their services with the establishment of Renal Dialysis Unit and High Dependency Unit. Both units were also assessed during the JCI survey for the safety and quality of hemodialysis and transplant processes,” added by Medical Director of JPMC, Dr. Meera Sahib Kabeer. Dr. Kabeer mentioned the recent expansion of services, emphasizing the thorough assessment of units during the JCI survey, ensuring the safety and quality of healthcare processes.
Yang Berhormat expressed his gratitude, saying, “I also express my gratitude to the team involved in ensuring the success of this accreditation and hope to continue celebrating more of these achievements in the future.” He appreciated the efforts of the team involved in ensuring the success of the accreditation process and looked forward to more such achievements in the future.
